The weather was beautiful, more than 100 people visited with friends old and new, and the banjo, stand up bass and guitar trio (Alan Munde, Kitty Ledbetter, and Bo Brown) made music that was just right for the occasion. We shared picnic lunches and a delicious 100th Anniversary cake.
Fifteen people joined or rejoined our neighborhood association. The Parkview Lassies danced and drummed accompanied by several sponsors, and city dignitaries said lovely things about us (thanks NACC Pastor Jenn Simmons, councilwoman Heather Hardinger, Mayor Jeff Schrag, and state representative Stephanie Hein.
Thanks to KY3 for the nice story about the picnic they ran on Saturday night and Sunday morning. You can view that on our Facebook page.

I want to give credit to the many people who worked so hard on our spring events and our dynamite picnic celebration. First, our UHNA Events committee, who met multiple times through the spring and worked together so smoothly to develop our plans. The lists below are a few of the ways they helped advance our projects.
- Jennifer Goode proposed, drafted and coordinated with the city to secure the Mayor’s proclamation. She created all the layouts, designs and graphics for our mailed newsletters, calendars, postcards, yard signs and Facebook announcements. She also set up the food table and served at the picnic, and coordinated planning for an ice cream social (rescheduled to Sunday, June 8 at 3 pm)
- Norma Capeci researched and ordered the red centennial signs, consulted on all plans, planned sign locations, and staffed the welcome table at the picnic, presenting a friendly face for the neighborhood.
- Nancy Williams organized and staffed the welcome table at the picnic, presenting a friendly face for the neighborhood.
- Lois Shufeldt assembled and installed most of the red Centennial yard signs, and put up and took down the picnic, event here, yard sale, and neighborhood meeting signs. She also bought the paper and plastic goods, ice and the chicken tenders for the picnic.
- Lisa Dixon organized UHNA’s documents into a binder, helped plan all spring, organized the Four Landscaped Yards tour, and helped with everything all day of picnic set-up and tear down.
- Ashton Lewis, UHNA Treasurer, helped with neighborhood planning, and was a host on the Landscaped Yard tour and Security Camera Show and Tell (to be rescheduled).
- Holly Acharya, UHNA board member, does our emails, technology support for meetings, and with Sree Acharya planned bike ride.
- Jym Wilson organized the Fassnight Creek cleanup and photographed the whole picnic, catching so many wonderful moments on film. Thanks, Donelle for putting a lovely photo montage of Jym’s work on Facebook.
- Donelle Blubaugh created Facebook events and posts, brought lovely picnic flowers and decorations, is a Driveway coffee host June 8, 9-11 am, and coordinated a Fassnight Creek Tour and Planting (rescheduled for June 14).
- Cindy Bylander, Centennial Picnic co-chair, consulted on all arrangements, tablecloths, decorations and flowers, arts and crafts table, photo montage display, food table arrangements and cake. She also provided great photo coverage (see link above!).
- Kevin Evans, UHNA board member & Centennial Picnic co-chair, organized, picked up and returned picnic lawn games, helped plan picnic program, arrange music trio, hung up the banner.
- Rod Dixon and Sree Acharya helped with set-up and tear down for the picnic and played games with guests.

- Jan Peterson, thank you for typing up contact information from everyone who signed in at the picnic.
- Thanks to the entire UHNA board including Rina Edge, Donna Hemann, and Jeff VanDenBerg, for their guidance and financial support all year.
Thank you all. It has been a joy working with all of you to create fun opportunities for neighbors to connect. There were lots of tasks and a lot of fun shared, so if you are interested in helping with future events, please tell us at
